2013 TIRU REUNION NEWS:

It is Time to Register for Tiru's Eleventh Reunion

The 2013 TIRU Reunion will be held from the 26th to 28th of September 2013 in Charleston, South Carolina at the Marriott Hotel. Details are posted on the TIRU website, www.usstiru.org, in the 2013 Reunion section. Reunion registration may be made on the website, by phone, email, or by postal mail. If you do not have internet access please call and we will fax or mail you the registration form, schedule of events, and hotel information. A memorial service for deceased Tiru shipmates will be held.

Occasionally the reunion committee experiences some email problems. If you have registered and are not listed on the website attendees list please notify the reunion committee (2013reunion@usstiru.org)

USS TIRU SS416 ASSOCIATION NEWS:

PRESIDENT:

The 2012 reunion was held last August at Washington, DC; over fifty shipmates and guests attended. A great time was had by all. The visit and memorial service at Arlington Cemetery was one of the highlights of the reunion. Many thanks to Joyce & Gary Grimes for all the effort they expended to continue our reunion success story. Pictures are posted in the Photo 2012 Reunion section of the website.

The 2012 Crew Meeting minutes and the 2011 Financial Report are posted in the restricted section of TIRU's website. If you do not have Internet access and wish a mailed copy, please contact the association secretary.

It is time for some new blood; elections are scheduled at the 2013 crew meeting in Charleston

ASSOCIATION VICE-PESIDENT:

The USS Tiru Crew Association Officers is looking for volunteers or nominations from the membership for crew members interested in assuming the responsibilities for the following Positions:
President
Vice President
Treasurer
Secretary
The current officers have been in these positions for some time.

Election / confirmation of new association officers will be completed at the crew meeting in Charleston. Current officers that are interested in staying in their current positions are welcome to if no volunteers or nominee names are submitted.

We have been sending newsletter mailing by postal service to Shipmates for which we do not have an email address. ASSOCIATION TREASURER:

The Association continues to remain in a strong financial condition. Dues have never been contemplated as the income from donations and fund raising continues to fill our coffers. The 2011 Financial Report along with the 2011 reunion financials are posted on Tiru's website. The 2012 Financial Report will be presented at the 2013 Crew Meeting.

This will be my last year as treasurer (2004-2013) as my hand is wearing out. I have done my duty.

ASSOCIATION WEBSITE:

The website averaged 693 unique visits (51960 hits) for the month of March. Your help is needed in auditing the site for bad links and errors. If any problems are noted please email to the webmaster. Thanks for those who have sent in suggestions and comments. New video have been added to Photos/Video section thanks to Dewey Cardwell.

Parts of the website are being modified to accommodate some of the newer browsers. Please let me know if you are having difficulties viewing particular pages and what browser and version you are using.

If you have registered and have not received a reply please try again or send an email to the webmaster. You should get an acknowledgement within one to three days if everything is working correctly. We occasionally have problems with our email due to spam control on some computers.
