Thomas G. Warburton

Commander Thomas G. Warburton, USN (ret), 69, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003. Born Oct. 7, 1933, in Pasadena, he lived in Fallbrook, California for 10 years.

He graduated in 1955 from UCLA. After 20 years as a Commander in the U.S. Navy Submarine Forces he retirued from the US Navy. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and commanded the submarine USS Tiru SS 416. After his navy retirement , Commander Warburton was an engineer for Hughes Aircraft Co. for 13 years.

He was a member of Alpha Gamma Omega Fraternity and UCLA Alumni Association, the Fallbrook Presbyterian Church, the Order of Demolay and the Submarine Naval League. He was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.

Commander Warburton was preceded in death by his son, Donald Warburton, in 1960. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Beverly Warburton of Fallbrook; daughters and sons-in-law Valerie Warburton of Alameda, Wanda and Avi Peretz of Los Angeles and Cheryl and David Smith of Alburquerque, N.M.; brother Edward Warburton of Willits; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service was held for 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at Fallbrook Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kirk Bottomly officiating. Burial with military honors was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego with the Rev. Bottomly officiating.
