Clarence Harold Smitter

Clarence H. Smitter, USN (ret), died on 12 May 2003 at the age of 81. He reported to the USS Tiru SS416 as a LTjg in 1955.  LTjg Smitter was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was born on 5 August 1921 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Smitter enlisted in the Navy in August 1942 and retired in 1972.
