James Palmer, died on 1 January 2013 in Connecticut. He was
born in Lisbon, Connecticut on 10 June 1931. Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and served on the submarine USS Sabalo (SS302), qualifying in 1953. He then served on the USS Tiru (SS416) from 18 December 1953 until 2 September 1954 when he was transferred to an Auxiliary Submarine Rescue Vessel (ASR) as a hard-hat diver. Jim was an active member of the USS Tiru Association, Sub-Vets Groton (Holland Club), and the V.F.W.
