Sammy Cutis Newton

Sammy Newton died on 9 May 2008 in Marengo, Illinois at the age of 64 and is buried in the Union Cemetery, Marengo. He was born on 2 February 1944 in Hurst, Illinois. Sammy Newton was assigned to USS Tiru SS-416 from 28 August 1965 to 24 November 1966 as a RM3.  He also served on the USS Segundo SS-398. He played on the All-Navy basketball team. After his naval service he graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in accounting. Later he became owner of Marengo Feed and Seed.
