Coy D. McCarty

ETCS Coy D. McCarty, USN (ret), a resident of Bridge Creek, Oklahoma, died on 13 October 2003 at the age of 71. Burial was at the East Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Watonga. He reported to the USS Tiru SS416, as a ETC on 15 November 1962 from MAAG Vietnam. He was transferred to the USS Barbero SSG317 on 30 November 1963. Senior Chief McCarty was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was born on 22 January 1932 in Rule, Texas. Senior Chief McCarty joined the Navy in 1947 and served for 22 years, retiring in 1970. In addition to the TIRU, he also served on the USS Will Rodgers SSBN 659, USS Barbero SSG317, USS Norton Sound AVM-1, USS Franklin D. Roosevelt CVA42, and the USS Wright CC2.
