Korean era/Cold war submarine veteran, Hubert James “Jim” Wilson died Jan. 16, 2015 in Missoula, after struggling with Alzheimer’s for two and a half years. Jim was born Aug. 17, 1929 in Harvey, to Hazel and Harold Wilson.
Jim graduated from Monmouth High School in 1948 and joined the Navy, where he proudly served as a submariner aboard the USS Bugara. They were active in the Korean campaigns during that war.
After the Navy, he went to Purdue University for two years and then finished his education at the University of Montana School of Forestry. He worked in the forest products industry for over 40 years and retired from Smurfit-Stone.
