Walter J. Baker

Electronic Technician 1st Class Walter J. Baker, retired, died on 23 December 1981 and was buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, California. He was born on 1 May 1925. Petty Officer Baker served on the commissioning crew of USS Tiru SS416 as a Torpedoman from September 1948 to |July 1949.  He joined the United States Navy in 1941 at Brooklyn, New York. Petty Officer Baker also served on the USS Scabbardfish SS397, USS Cusk SS348, USS Menhaden SS377, and USS Caiman SS323. Prior to his retirement in 1962 he had changed rating from Torpedoman to Electronic Technician.
