Captain Henry J. Cappello, US Navy (ret)

Captain Cappello was born on the 28th of April 1920 in San Francisco, California. He entered U.S. Naval service in July 1941, serving as Engineer on the USS Tunny (SS-282), Commanding Officer of USS Tiru (SS-416) from 28 June 1952 to 27 June 1954. After leaving the submarine force, Captain Cappello served as Navigator on the USS Iowa (BB-61) and as Commanding Officer of the USS Robert K. Huntington (DD-751). He was later assigned to the Office of Legislative Affairs, retiring from the U.S. Navy in June 1962.

Captain Cappello was awarded the Silver Star, Presidential Unit Citation (USS Tunny), and the Submarine Combat Insignia with 5 stars.
