Captain William M. Mickle, US Navy (ret)

Captain Mickle graduated from the U.S. Naval Acadamy in 1957 and has served on the USS Southerland DDR-743,  USS Trumpetfish SS-425, and USS Amberjack SS 525. He also served on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations and the staff of the Commander-in Chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. He did postgraduate work at the American University, School of International Studies and attended the Armed Forces Staff College, Norfolk, Virginia. Captain Mickle assumed command of the USS Tiru SS-416 on 4 September 1970 leaving on 7 April 1972. After Tiru, he was assigned to the staff of Commander Submarine Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet.
