Grew up in Tennessee
Received commission upon graduation from the
University of the South
In 1963.
Reported for active duty upon graduation from
Vanderbilt University Law School in 1966 with a Juris
Doctor degree.
Awarded Master of Laws degree from George Washington
University in 1972.
30 years on active duty, 10 years overseas, five years at
sea. Sea duty was on USS MIDWAY CVA 41 (two years),
and on the SIXTH FLEET Staff aboard USS PUGET
SOUND AD 38 in the Mediterranean (three years). Rifle
Company CO (Romeo Company) Guantanamo Bay. CO,
Naval Legal Service Office Norfolk, largest in DOD,
Senior Legal Advisor for SURFLANT, CINCLANTFLT,
CINCLANT AND SACLANT.
Retired in 1997 and raises Appaloosa horses with wife
Shirley.
During active duty, received the DEFENSE SUPERIOR
SERVICE MEDAL, three LEGIONS OF MERIT, two
MERITORIOUS SERVICE MEDALS and two NAVY
COMMENDATION MEDALS
Currently the Vice President for Development, Corporate
Secretary, Director of Planned Giving, for the NAVAL
AVIATION MUSEUM FOUNDATION.
